Kaff Inc. ("Kaff", "we") is a Delaware corporation operating in California. We run the Kaff app and the Kaff website. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

Your password is handled by our sign-in provider, and we never see it in readable form. We use your date of birth to check that you are 16 or older, and keep it on your account. If you are under 16 when you sign up, we stop and store nothing.
We do not ask for your contacts, microphone, camera or Face ID. We no longer ask for a city or region at signup, though accounts created earlier may still have one on file.
2. How we use information
- To create and run your account, and show your posts, ratings and reviews to other users.
- To show coffee shops near you and sort them by distance, if you allow location.
- To keep Kaff safe, prevent fraud and abuse, and review reports of harmful content.
- To find and fix crashes and bugs, and to improve the app.
- To understand how Kaff is used, in aggregate.
- To send account and security emails, which are always on.
- To send product updates and social activity emails, only if you chose them.
- To meet legal obligations.
3. Location, photos and other permissions
- Location. We ask on the Map tab, after explaining why, and only while the app is open. We never track you in the background. If you say no, the map opens on a default area and search still works. You can change this any time in your phone settings.
- Photos. Kaff uses your phone's photo picker. We only receive the photos you choose, and we do not scan your library.
- Not used. Kaff does not use your camera, microphone, contacts or Face ID.
- Notifications. Kaff does not send push notifications today. If that changes, we will ask first.
4. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these ways:
- Other users. Your profile, posts, ratings, reviews and the photos you add are visible as the app shows them.
- Service providers are third parties that help us run Kaff, such as for hosting, mapping, analytics, crash reporting, app update delivery and email. They may use your information only to provide those services to us:
| Type of provider | Used for | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting and account services | Sign-in, database, file storage, server functions | Account details and your content |
| Mapping and place data | Maps and coffee shop search | Search requests and, when you allow it, location |
| Analytics | Understanding how Kaff is used | Usage events tied to an account ID, device and app details |
| Crash reporting | Finding and fixing crashes | Crash and diagnostic data, no account details, no IP address stored |
| App update delivery | Delivering app updates | IP address, app version and platform |
| Email delivery | Account and optional emails | Email address |
- Legal and safety. When the law requires it, or to protect people, our rights or our service.
- Business changes. If Kaff is bought or merged, your information may transfer under this policy.
5. Anonymized and aggregated data
We may create anonymized, aggregated insights, such as coffee shop visit trends and regional usage patterns, and may sell or license them. They do not identify you and we do not try to re-identify them. We have not sold personal information. You can opt out of this use in Settings, Privacy, Data Preferences.
6. Your choices and California rights
Your choices

We will not treat you differently for using these rights. Email us at privacy@kaffapp.com. We verify your identity by matching your account email and respond within the time the law requires.
Deleting your account. You can delete your account in Settings. Today this removes your login and marks your profile as deleted. Your posts, photos and other stored content are not yet removed automatically, but are manually deleted within 24 hours.
7. How long we keep information
- Account details and content: while your account exists, and after deletion as described in section 6.
- Usage analytics: kept for 24 months, then deleted.
- Crash reports: kept for 30 days, then deleted automatically.

8. Security
We use reasonable safeguards, and your password is protected by our sign-in provider. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Website cookies
The Kaff website doesn't use cookies or advertising trackers.
